Eye of the Loon Red Ale Tasting

The time has come…

To drink beer!

Eye of the Loon Red Ale is carbonated and ready for consumption. I know I say all my beers have been worth the wait, but this one definitely was. I haven’t had a red ale in quite some time so I was good to get back to the style.

The roasted barley is really prominent beer, even more so that my stout despite making up 5% less of the grain bill. The roasty character compliments the caramel and toffee flavors from the crystal malt quite nicely.

It’s very malt forward, but the hops add some subtle aromas. Next time, I think I’ll try to get a bit more bitterness and see how that goes.

The beer really did come out great and I will enjoy a few delicious pints of this classic Irish style just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.
